Greetings Foodtopia fans!! Looking for something fun to do in Asheville this weekend? We’ve got you covered! Here are some things happening around town to keep your belly full and your booty shaking!
Friday:
Friday is ice cream flight-night at The Hop!! Start your weekend off right with a flight of unique flavors from everyone’s favorite local creamery. This week the event (from 6-9pm) at The Creamery is HOLE – Hot Doughnuts and Fresh Coffee Ice Cream Sandwich Night!
After all that ice-cream you’re gonna wanna get moving, and Friday’s got you covered in the live music department! At 7:00 Bhramari Brew House will host The Clydes; an americana-bluegrass-old country group. After that head over to Imperial Life where you can shake your booty to DJ Gems and enjoy $6 daiquiris all night! In addition, Isis Music Hall is hosting The Revelers and Dirty Bourbon River Show at 8:30 and and One Stop Music Hall will have The Southern Belles at 10pm.
Saturday:
Start Saturday out right by earning all your weekend libations! Bhramari Brewhouse is hosting their monthly “Bend and Brew” from 11-12. This is an all levels yoga class and will be followed by a local beer tasting. More information about the event here. Shortly after, Studio Zahiya is hosting a “Sass Class” at 1pm taught by everyone’s favorite twerk queen Lisa Zahiya. The 2 hour workshop is a great workout where you’ll learn the basics of twerking and some fun choreo as well!
This Saturday is a big one, as it marks 2 years since Sovereign Remedies has been providing our thirsty community with deliciously crafted cocktails!! To celebrate their anniversary, Sovereign is hosting a block party from 4pm-10pm! The party will include live music, adult slushies, and a whole pig roast from Chef Steve Goff!!
Once you’ve stuffed your face with all the pork you can handle, head on over to Isis Music Hall for An Evening of Lynyrd Skynyrd with the Artimus Pyle Band. This high energy tribute band is one the few that are on the road today. The show starts at 9pm, tickets available here.
Sunday:
Of course Sunday morning is always about brunch here in Foodtopia. We like ours with a side of music… check out jazz on the roof at Social Lounge, jazz brunch at Imperial Life, or Bluegrass brunch at Mojo Kitchen and Lounge. (If you’ve never had their Red-Neck Benedict you’re missing out!)
In the evening, don your best Alice in Wonderland costume and head over to Battery Park Book Exchange for their event “Through The Looking Glass.” The Book Exchange is known for hosting elaborate, creative events, and this is one you won’t want to miss!! The party starts starts at 11pm and cover is $5. More details are available here!
And of course, Our walking food tours are always a perfect way to spend an afternoon! We still have a few spots left on our High Roller tours as well as The Classic South Slope on Friday and Classic West Asheville on Saturday!! Cheers to a great weekend Asheville!!
