Greetings Foodtopia Fans! The rain in Asheville has officially stopped (for now) and these beautiful days are inspiring us to get out and enjoy the beautiful mountain air. It has been scientifically proven that food tastes better when eaten outdoors, and we know you’ve been searching for the best ways to enjoy the sunshine in Foodtopia. So with that in mind, we’ve collected some of the best Asheville restaurants to be enjoyed al fresco:
Social Lounge Rooftop
For many years The Social Lounge was the only rooftop bar in town. Although competition is now fierce, we’re still fans of this OG spot. The intimate social Lounge rooftop is only one floor up- which allows for great views as well as superb people watching. Strada Italiano’s full menu is available on the rooftop and is the perfect accompaniment to their award-winning craft cocktails. In addition, fun events like Sunday jazz brunch and Tiki Tuesdays make this space a win.
Rhubarb
Nestled in the heart of Pack Square, James Beard nominated Rhubarb allows diners to enjoy farm-fresh fare alongside all of the action happening in Pack Square. Chef John Fleer’s style is to serve up dishes known for giving a nod to the culture of the area- which could not be a more perfect accompaniment to simultaneously experiencing the vibrant culture, street performances and people of downtown Asheville.
Aux Bar Patio
Already one of the best patio spots in town- the outdoor space on Lexington Avenue got even better with the opening of new Aux Bar. Finally we have a restaurant as enamored with the space as we are- making use of it with fun events like outdoor movies and rotating wood-fired street food pop-ups.
Zambra
Zambra‘s patio is easily one of the best kept secrets in town. The space is a casual breezeway by day, and is then transformed for dinner service with string lights, stellar flower arrangements and approximately one million candles. With this kind of ambiance it’s no wonder Zambra is consistently voted most romantic restaurant in Asheville! One of the great things about the Zambra patio is that it’s fully covered, making it a great outdoor spot even in the rain.
Isa’s French Bistro
Located right across from the two most popular busking corners in Asheville, this is one of our favorite spots to enjoy live street music while dining. Isa’s recently changed their concept to French cuisine, a point especially driven home when dining al fresco under their awning.
Hemingway’s Cuba
One of our favorite new restaurants also has one of our favorite new rooftop patios! The beautiful space at Hemingway’s Cuba boasts stunning views of the mountains and is particularly great at sunset. Not to mention chef Duane Fernandes’ traditional Cuban fare makes for a meal worth remembering.
Lexington Avenue Brewery
Nothing pairs better with a warm day than a fresh local brew. We love LAB for enjoying the warmer weather with delicious food and creative beers. Our particular favorite spot is right in the window, where you can dine while watching downtown Asheville buzz by.
Mountain Madre
The patio space at Mountain Madre is another great hidden gem. Tucked away in a picturesque courtyard, it’s a great place to enjoy a quiet outdoor meal under the trees. Fair warning: the margaritas are so good here you may find yourself in this idealic spot way longer than you intended…
Another great way to enjoy a beautiful day in downtown is to take a stroll through many of Asheville’s best restaurants on our walking food tours! The warmer months are always our most popular and tickets sell quickly; check out our website at www.eatingasheville.com for more info and to book your tickets today!
Cheers to the great outdoors Asheville!
