Tupelo Honey Joins the Eating Asheville Team!

by Eating Asheville

Tupelo Honey

Great news Foodtopia and food tour fans! Eating Asheville is excited to welcome one of downtown’s most delicious and successful restaurants into our food tour family; Tupelo Honey Cafe!!

Since Tupelo Honey’s opening in downtown Asheville in 2011, the restaurant has been a Foodtopia staple. Their concept is simple; “A revival of Southern food and traditions rooted in the Carolina mountains… recipes are simply crafted and made from scratch with responsibly sourced ingredients that bring the best of every season.”

The crew attributes the success of the restaurant largely to the Asheville community itself. The next step in their restaurant’s adventure is to make their flagship location even better for hungry locals.

This summer the Asheville downtown Tupelo Honey received an beautiful expansion and upgrade, and we could not be more excited to showcase the new digs on our food tours! Here are a few words from Tupelo Honey on their exciting new addition:

Tupelo Honey bar

“Our original Downtown Asheville location is proud to now offer a brand new experience! We’ve opened a bar located directly next door to our restaurant where you can order craft cocktails and specialty beers as well exciting new small plates, salads and cocktail sandwiches that remain true to our Southern roots.

If you have a hankering for fried chicken, the Downtown Bar offers our famous Honey Dusted Fried Chicken plus chef-inspired accoutrements to dress it up. Make your bird ‘bougie’ with toppings like pimento cheese, salsa and sour cream or caviar, shallots and a buerre blanc drizzle.”

The new menu promises a lot of excitement, with several new and unique offerings different from what you will experience on their traditional menu. So far it has been a HUGE hit on our tours – with shrimp and grits served alongside a refreshing frosé and a brunch themed stop of chicken and sweet potato pancakes paired with fresh squeezed Mimosas. Yum!
