Greetings Foodtopia fans! Here at Eating Asheville we count ourselves lucky to pay a visit to Table Asheville several times a week on our walking food tours. Did you know that Chef Jacob Sessoms at Table was Asheville’s first ever James Beard nominated chef? We are continually impressed by Chef Jacob and the creatively fresh fare that comes out of his kitchen. And while we love the fine-dining dishes served over at Table, we have also been a big fan of their sister restaurant Tod’s Tasties, where you can enjoy the same upscale flavors in a more casual environment.
Tod’s Tasties is located in the historic Montford neighborhood and has been serving up farm-fresh fare to hungry Ashevillians for over a decade. We are excited to see this local favorite blossoming into something new as Tod’s closes for a few months to revamp and re-do both the building and their menu concept.
A lot of what’s in store is still left as a surprise, and we can’t wait to see what they’ve got up their sleeves! What we do know is that Jacob and his wife Alicia intend to restructure the building, making the space flow easier and allowing for more kitchen space.
As far as the menu the new restaurant (who’s name has still not been revealed) will keep a small handful of Tod’s classic dishes and will also aim to keep prices at about the same range. The new menu will offer healthier fare, and a great selection of coffee as well as house-baked goods. What we are most excited about is the promise of an elevated wine menu; an area that Jacob and Alicia truly shine at.
Tod’s closed it’s doors after the Father’s Day cookout out this past weekend, and are aiming to open back up in the early fall. In the meantime, be sure to swing by Table to get your fix of Sessoms’ farm fresh fare and perfect wine pairings. Also, join us for our High Roller food tour where you’ll have the opportunity to experience Table alongside many of Asheville’s best chefs and restaurants!
