Greetings Foodtopia fans! Did you know that Table was Asheville’s first farm-to-table restaurant? Not only that, but Table chef Jacob Sessoms was also the very first chef in Asheville to be nominated for a James Beard award! Because of these things, we attribute a lot of the forward movement in the Asheville culinary scene to Chef Jacob and his dynamic use of locally sourced seasonal ingredients. We always love seeing what the folks at Table and their craft cocktail bar, The Imperial Life, will come up with next- and we are excited to share with you two different culinary and craft cocktail events at one of Asheville’s best restaurants that you definitely will not want to miss!
Bartending Class with Ben Johnson:
On February 24th Ben Johnson, head bartender of The Imperial Life, will be leading his fourth installment of his home bartending class. During these fun and informative courses Ben teaches guests simple ways to make the most out of their home bars by focuses on different types of drinks. This time around the focus will be on the classic favorite; bourbon! Guests will learn a few pocket recipes to impress their friends with, have an opportunity to try some of the creations, and even leave with some swag! Be sure to make reservations because these popular classes typically fill up fast! Make yours by emailing info@tableasheville.com.
More event information available on their Facebook page here. Below are more details:
“Hello friends! It’s time yet again for another bar class. This will be our fourth one to do and people seem to be enjoying them, so let’s keep it going. This time we’re going to be discussing and drinking Bourbon Whiskey. We’ll have three different brands: Knob Creek Single Barrel, Maker’s Mark 46, and Four Roses Small Batch. We’re going to be getting in depth here with regard to production, labeling, tasting, evalutating, collecting, etc. This will all be led by me, so expect a non-biased, no bullshit approach to whiskey.
Again, we’re going to be seeing how many people sign up before announcing classes, but our guess is one at 1:30 and one at 3. But this is subject to change. Tickets will be 20 dollars a person.
Reservations ARE required. Please email info@tableasheville.com to reserve your spot today. Spaces will fill up fast!”
The Women Who Taught us to Cook:
The second event we’re excited about is the 6 course dinner series that will be happening at Table starting next month! These culinary showcases will each benefit a specific cause. This first one happening on March 16th will benefit Planned Parenthood and will feature several of Asheville’s female leaders in both the culinary and craft cocktail scene. Here are details of the event from Table:
“6 courses. 6 dynamic stories. Our humble twists.
6 pm.
$70 per person.
The story:
Table Restaurant is pleased to announce a series of focused dinners to benefit several causes carefully chosen by the staff.
The first dinner, scheduled for March 16th, 2017, is entitled ‘The Women Who Taught Us To Cook’. The event was inspired by notable female chef’s throughout history who helped shape the way the chef’s involved with the event approach food and cooking. The dinner will consist of six unique courses, with wine pairings from globally recognized female wine producers.
Several well-know female chef’s from the Asheville culinary scene have volunteered to co-collaborate on the menu. The Imperial Life Cocktail Lounge, located upstairs from the restaurant, will be hosting an after party with a female led bar staff and DJ following dinner.
Proceeds will benefit Planned Parenthood.
