Asheville Events Happening This Weekend

by Eating Asheville

Greetings to everyone hanging out in the Land of the Sky this weekend, we’ve got a handful of cool Asheville events going on tonight and tomorrow that we wanted to shout about.  Tonight of course is Shindig on the Green, which is a highly recommended affair happening in Pack Park tonight from 7-10pm, and is a fondly favored tradition on the Asheville events calendar.  There will be live bluegrass going on and you can picnic on the lawn and take it all in.  If you’re looking for picnic grub, 67 Biltmore is a block away and is open until 8pm offering an expansive menu of amazing hot and cold sandwiches and prepared foods perfect for picnicking.  Right next door is Asheville Wine Market where you can snag a bottle from the best selection in downtown Asheville that also includes a bevy of craft beer—yes they have plenty of refrigerated options.

Tomorrow, you could spend the day as follows:

Eat at Mojo Kitchen from 11-3 where Bluegrass Brunch is our Asheville event happening every Sunday.  Well known performers play throughout service, and AJ Gregson’s menu is Southern cooking at its best here in Asheville.

Learn how to make cocktails with bar manager Ben Johnson at The Imperial Life.  The 1pm class sold out so Ben decided to offer a follow up which will start at 2 or 3pm.  For a mere $20 you get to make and drink a classic daiquiri and Manhattan along with snacks at a nationally recognized craft cocktail bar owned by a James Beard nominated chef, that being Jacob Sessoms.  E-mail info@tableashville.com or give them a call at 828-254-8980 to sign up and find out more info.

Buffalo-Nickel-BurgerSoak up that alcohol with dinner at Buffalo Nickel over in West Asheville.  These guys have the comfiest lounge and game room in Asheville upstairs above their dining room, and on Sundays you can get a burger, french fries and a pint for $12.  See pictured burger for inspiration.

Cap the night off by walking over to The Mothlight, a premier Asheville music club that will be hosting another of their premier Asheville events from 6-10pm.  Live music from Rond and Minorcan will be accompanied by stand-up comedy all in an effort to raise money for Ryan Conrad and his family as he battles cancer.  This will be a great time with a suggested $10 donation for a great cause.

Have fun enjoying the rest of your weekend, and stay tuned for more suggested activities eating and otherwise later this week.  A bunch more events are brewing on the horizon here in Foodtopia, including our tours!  We’re sold out for the weekend, but we’ve got space on our daily routes this week.  Check it.  Happy weekend after July 4th.
