Greetings Foodtopia fans and taco lovers! We are happy to report that last weekend’s inaugural Asheville Taco Takeover was a delicious success!
Put on by All American Food Fights, this all-afternoon taco-fest included nearly a dozen local establishments all competing to be the top taco in town! Tacos of nearly every variety were spotted around the event including a Korean-style local beef topped with pork rinds from Brinehaus, traditional Mexican Carnitas on house-made flour tortillas at Taqueria Fast and the unusual, yet delicious, Jack Fruit tacos from Laughing Seed cafe.
So who took home the prize?? Eating Asheville could not be more excited to see our friend Chef Steve Goff from Brinehaus/ Aux Bar take home BOTH People’s Choice award as well as 2nd place with the judges! Other winners included Sonora with first place judges award, and runners up Belly Up (Tied second with Brinehaus) and Taqueria Fast.
Insider tip: All American Food fights puts on several varieties of delicious food competitions a year that are a unique and fun way to try several of Asheville’s best chefs all in one afternoon! Coming up next will be the Asheville Wing War in March, followed by a macaroni and cheese contest, a return of the Taco Takeover and of course the locally famous Burger Battle! Visit their website for more information and to sign up on the mailing list for first dibs on tickets!
Lucky for us, Aux Bar is featured on our walking food tours several times a week! For more information and to book your eating adventure, visit our website today at www.eatingasheville.com!
