Great news Foodopia and food tour fans- this month, Eating Asheville is excited to welcome aboard two new restaurants to enjoy along your culinary adventure; Baba Nahm and Polanco!
Consistently, One of the things we find most interesting about the Asheville dining scene is the way it is continually growing and expanding, forcing the food scene to move forward and evolve in new and exciting ways! We feel that our two new parters; Baba Nahm and Polanco are perfect examples of this dynamic. Both of these internationally diverse restaurants are bringing fun and innovative styles of dining to downtown Asheville- and we couldn’t be more excited for you to try them!
Baba Nahm
Long time Asheville restauranteur Reza Setayesh (original owner of Rezaz in Biltmore Village and Piazza in Fairview) along with Brian and Laura Smith (current owners of Rezaz) have teamed up to bring a fun new restaurant concept with a Middle Eastern flare to the Asheville food scene. Baba Nahm is conceptualized as a fast-casual restaurant serving scratch-made food. The idea is that the food will come quickly, but fresh made, and flavored with chopped herbs, citrus, olive oil and Middle Eastern spices. Although Reza himself is Iranian, the cuisine at Baba Nahm reflects many different regions of the Middle East. We couldn’t be more excited to feature their delicious food on several of our Eating Asheville food tours throughout the week!
Polanco
In a town filled with many delicious Mexican options, Polanco is striving to create something new an unique. Chef and owner Ricardo is originally from Mexico, where he owned and operated several successful restaurants. The moment you step into Polanco, you will be warmly greeted by Ricardo- who is quick to explain his passion for mexican cooking. A must try on the menu (and one of our favorites on the Eating Asheville food tour) is his 5 hour mole- a traditional sauce known for it’s incorporation of exotic spices and dark chocolate.
We can’t recommend both of these new Asheville restaurants enough! Of course we feel one of the best ways to experience them is on our walking food tours- where you’ll have the opportunity to not only try some of their delicious fare, but also learn a little something along the way!
