Greetings Foodtopia fans! This early-spring-tease of a February has gotten us dreaming of warmer months and gearing up for our busy tour season! One of the things we pride ourselves in is the wide range of Asheville restaurants that we are lucky enough to represent. This spring we’re excited to see our tour family expanding and welcoming two new Asheville restaurants on board for your tasting pleasure; the new Aux Bar and (for the sweeter side of things) Sunshine Sammies!
We can’t get enough of the nostalgia that Sunshine Sammies brings to both our food tours and downtown Asheville. Bringing back everyone’s childhood favorite, the ice cream sandwich, This creative establishment offers classic flavors such as cookie dough and coffee mixed in with unique variations like bacon toffee crunch. (Yum!) Originally opened in Asheville during the summer of 2013 with a handbuilt solar powered pushcart, this sweet spot expanded this past year to their very own brick and mortar on South Lexington Ave, and now even has products in local grocery stores! We couldn’t be more excited to have them join our team so we can showcase the sweeter side of downtown Asheville!
In February, downtown Asheville eagerly welcomed the opening of new Aux Bar just a few blocks north of Sunshine Sammies on Lexington Avenue. Aux Bar brings together two local food scene veterans; Mike Moore (of Blind Pig Supper Club) and Steve Goff (of former King James) to create a menu that will feature seasonally driven American cuisine. One of our favorite things about this place is the space; boasting floor-to-ceiling windows, a drool worthy bar and a newly re-constructed outdoor patio that will features custom built wood fired grills. The menu at Aux Bar will be innovative and varied; and we could not be more excited to share the creations of these two talented chefs with our food tour guests!
Of course this is all great news for you, Foodtopia lover, because this means you can try our walking food tours as many times as you’d like and have even more opportunity to discover new favorites each time you do! Tickets book quicker as the temperatures rise, so be sure to snag your spot! Tours can be booked online at www.eatingasheville.com or you may call our office at 828-489-3266 with any questions.
